An open letter to President Elect Trump: Please do not forget about us

Please, not only for myself, but for all the others who are going through the same ordeal, please help us. The longer I wait the more disability I face. I am only 41 years old and up until this process began I was an active, happy mom, student and wife. Now my kids worry about me falling and getting hurt when they're at school (they are 5 & 7, they should never have to have those worries!). My youngest girl is afraid to hug me and hold me around the neck. It breaks me heart. And you know what, I let her and tell her to do it, it will be ok. Not just because I love it, and oh, boy do I love it, but because she loves it and needs it!

Grieving your former self after a diagnosis of a chronic illness

Maybe one person will read this and realize it is ok not to be ok for a while after getting this kind of news. It's ok to feel sorry for yourself and grieve for the life you once had. It will also be ok when you are able to find acceptance and move on to a place where you can look back at your former self without feeling pain, and can feel happiness because of who you were and realize you are still that person.
